The AutoFind V2K uses the latest in GPS tracking technology combined with breakthrough designs in geosynchronous satellite communications hardware that offer low cost rugged "field and forget" terminals with excellent power management capabilities.

Highlights of the V2K system:
  • Single box design for easy installation
  • Send and receive text messages
  • Flat profile can be mounted on roof of vehicles/trailers or inside fiberglass roofing
  • Long battery life - up to 3 years with small Lithium battery
  • Temperature and Humidity sensor options for "reefer" operation
  • Panic button switch available
  • Low cost messaging
  • Geostationary satellite coverage - Provides regional hemispheric covergae.  i.e. North America, or Middle East etc.
The V2K with AutoFind software enables users to:
  • Monitor position of all assets, use advanced mapping features
  • Display alarms (panic, other digital status) on map and table format
  • Manage assets
  • Poll assets for current position
  • Playback previous position histories
  • View position histories in real time
  • Improve security, accountability, and safety
The V2K mobile unit is a GPS-based tracking device that uses Geosynchronous satellite systems for communications of position report and status data from mobile assets.

The V2K unit is an excellent device for volume low cost GPS position reporting and also for status monitoring of fixed or moving assets.  The variety of reporting plans combined with low hardware cost make the V2K a very cost effective solution for a variety of tracking applications including trucking, trailer, vessels and heavy equipment as well as fixed site monitoring applications.

The unit is configurable for a variety of reporting profiles and the unit operates from +4.5 to +12 Volts DC.

This document is designed to familiarize the user with the many available features of the V2K unit. The details for setting the various operational parameters of the unit are provided as part of a separate programmer's manual.

The main features of the V2K unit are as follows:
  1. Periodic position reporting.
  2. Position reporting in response to a poll.
  3. Two way Text Messaging using Palm™ or Ruggedized Text Terminal Device
  4. Status monitoring of sensors or other triggered events
  5. Very low profile combination GPS and Satcom antenna - Fits inside a trailer or outside, mount on the roof of a truck cab.
  6. Flexible levels of periodic GPS reporting service
  7. Sleep and wake modes with up to 3 year operation from a single battery
  8. Operate from truck power with automatic switchover to battery if truck power disconnected.
Available in Various Ruggedized Enclosures with Embedded Battery Operation:

External Antenna Version
Model V2K/MIL/EXT

Internal Antenna Version
Model V2K/MIL/INT

Periodic Position Reporting
Periodic position reporting (also known as 'broadcast' position reporting) is a mode where the V2K is programmed to automatically send its position over the air at pre-defined intervals. The unit will calculate time and automatically send the position report in its programmed interval.

The reporting interval time slot in which the unit transmits is a function of its programmed report interval setting level.

There are multiple levels or GPS reporting available in the V2K including event triggering or periodic reporting of GPS position with programmable interval.

Reporting is done each and every day as long as the unit is powered.

Text Messaging
The V2K System enables you to send text messages to and from a mobile unit in the field from the Base Station software.  The user in the field only needs to have a Model G55 text terminal with which to send or receive messages in real-time.

Model G55 Text Terminal / Mobile Data Terminal

Polled Position Reporting
The V2K also supports polling from the tracking software for GPS position.  Polling is an effective means to get a GPS position in near real-time.  The average turn-around time for a poll and response from the unit is less than 4 minutes.

Unit Programming
The V2K is programmed for the reporting plan specified.  The unit simply needs to have power applied to begin automatically reporting position.  Reporting configuration and parameters can be changed by over-the-air command if necessary.

Sensors
Sensors are available for status monitoring.  Possible status monitoring includes:
  1. Panic button / switch
  2. Other sensors as required
